CARTAP belongs to nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) channel blockers and has systemic insecticide action with stomach and contact action. It is a highly effective insecticide to control stem borer, leaf folder and whorl maggot in rice. Its efficacy is prolonged and controls insects in almost all stages. It has no effect on natural enemies of insect pests and it is practically non-toxic to mammals.
It has a quite different mode of action from that of other insecticides. .
